How do AlkydPro paints compare to other available alkyds? C.A.S.AlkydPro paint is a true professional grade paint. It is the only pure artist's alkyd made in the U.S.A and the first true professional grade artist's alkyd anywhere in the world. Many artists may be accustomed to using an imported alkyd that has lower pigment concentrations and a higher mineral spirits content, but AlkydPro paint is formulated with more pigment and much less of a low-odor mineral spirits. Besides the obvious benefits, this allows a thicker consistency, much like that of professional oils, while still retaining brushstrokes and smooth application.

How do AlkydPro paints compare to traditional oils? In terms of safety, most oil painters are using mediums and solvents which contain the same materials as AlkydPro. They will not notice a significant difference.

We have also overcome the common complaint that alkyd paint do not contain enough pigment. C.A.S.AlkydPro paints contain as much pigment as professional oils.

One clear advantage alkyd has over oil is the ability to complete a painting in less time. AlkydPro paint dries much faster than oil, but slower than acrylics. The drying time is slow enough to work the paint with wet in wet techniques if desire, and fast enough to speed the preparation of shows, do last minute on-site touchups and help meet commision deadlines.

How do AlkydPro paints compare to acrylics? It is a common misconception that acrylics are a completely safe alternative to oils or alkyds. Acrylics, though they clean up with water, do contain several chemicals, such as ammonia. Artists using acrylics still need to take safety precautions like using ventilation. Arylics contain much less pigment than our alkyds. Acrylics also dry to a dull, flat finish, while AlkydPro paints remain vivid and keep a semi-gloss finish.

Any technical tips for using AlkydPro Paint? Painting with our AlkydPro colors is much like using traditional oils. They can be cleaned/thinned with mineral spirits or other paint thinners. They can be used with oil, however, do NOT paint alkyds over the top of oils. This can result in cracking.

Can I paint in thick Impasto layers? Yes, but you must use a medium, such as our of AlkydPro Impasto Mediums. Otherwise, some colors may not dry thoroughly if the paint layer is too thick. Our paints are made to be used in thinner layers. If you are painting with a palette knive you should use a medium.

What are the advantages of using Alkyd paint? The most obvious benefit is a faster drying time. AlkydPro paints have the smooth buttery consistency of oil, but dry in a fraction of the time. In addition, unlike traditional paints, AlkydPro paints do not yellow or become dull when dry. The colors remain brilliant and fresh, maintaining a semi-gloss finish. Unlike oil which is prone to cracking, an alkyd paint film remains flexible.

Can AlkydPro Paints be mixed with traditional oils? Yes, adding alkyds to oil paint will still result in a faster drying time. However, do NOT paint alkyds over the top of traditional oils. The alkyds would dry faster than the oils underneath, resulting in cracking.

How fast do AlkydPro paints dry? In general, AlkydPro paints are dry to the touch in less than 24 hours. Exact drying times vary with pigment, room temperature, and thickness of paint application. Alkyd dry faster in warmer temperatures/slower in cool. It is important to clean up brushes, palettes, etc. immediately after use, as it will dry quickly.

Can I get a sample? No, we do not have samples available.

Do AlkydPro Paints smell bad? We use a very low odor mineral spirits in our paint. There is a detectable smell, but it is slight. However, smell or no smell, you should always use adequate ventilation.

What's the easiest way to order? Ordering online is the simplest way to order. To place an order online, add individual items to the cart. You will be able to change the number you wish to order as well as remove items from the cart. When ready to checkout, click on View Cart and proceed to the checkout. You can pay online through PayPal by logging into you account. If you do not have PayPal, you do have the option of paying with a credit card or debit card. You will see a link to do so after clicking to checkout. Your information is secured by PayPal either way.

Shipping and tax(for residents of Illinois only) will be added at checkout. You will receive receipt through email.

Can I order by phone or mail? If you prefer to call, we can enter your credit card information manually on our website. You can also order through the mail. Just print out and fill in our mail-in-order form here. Your paint will ship as soon as your check clears.

What forms of payment do you accept? We accept PayPal, major credit cards, or check/money-order with mail orders only.

How soon will I receive my order? If we receive your order by 1pm, it will usually ship the same day. Otherwise, your order will ship within 24 hours after payment is received. Shipping charges will be added at checkout. We ship from the

Midwest to anywhere in the continental United States. Your order usually arrives within 7-10 days. Sorry, we do not offer expediated shipping....AlkydPro paint cannot fly.

What is your return policy? If there has been a mistake with your order, please contact us to describe the problem. If necessary, we will arrange for the return and replacement of the paint. In order to receive replacements, you must return the original order. Please call to arrange return shipments.

Do you charge tax? Orders shipped to Illinois are subject to a 6.25% sales tax that will be added at checkout.
